The beginning of the Church of Christ Wembley Downs and its development is an interesting example of cooperation. There was cooperation between the official bodies of Churches of Christ in Westran Australia Association, the Subiaco Church of Christ and the residents of the area around Wembley Downs.
This early spirit of cooperation has been characteristic of the congregation, and through the years it has reached out beyond the Association of Churches of Christ to other Christian bodies in the area. Probably, the fact that the early members experienced such cooperation made it possible for them to encourage people to be tolerant and to assist one another in the Christian enterprise.

Ken Patterson, State Organiser, presided and George Smith, Conference President, preached. A few weeks later the report said "presided to capacity, attendance nearing 40 in the upper room and 15 in the children's creche."
